FRANKLIN, OH / ACCESSWIRE / May 14, 2019 / Designing Digitally, Inc., a custom learning and development company, earned two Gold and one Bronze award in the 2018 Horizon Interactive Awards. The Horizon Interactive Awards is an annual competition which acknowledges honorable accomplishments in interactive media developments from all over the world. Designing Digitally, Inc. is thrilled to be presented three esteemed awards in this year's competition.
One of the Gold awards was given to recognize the success in their work done for the Sandwich Master Serious Game they developed for Checkers/Rally's. The training experience teaches new employees how to properly make the items on the restaurant's extensive menu through game-based learning. In the serious game, the new hires are first given digital flashcards that educate them on the menu options. Employees then have the opportunity to tour the workplace stations to see where the equipment and ingredients are stored, as well as learn the sandwich making process. After the introductory stages are completed, the new hires are able to test their mastery in the Sandwich Master Serious Game where they must accurately fulfill customer orders within the required amount of time. With this training approach, learners are able to demonstrate proficiency before using real ingredients and reduce the risk of incorrect orders for actual customers.
The second Gold award was presented to the company for the work they completed for the Equipment Leasing and Finance Association (ELFA) in the Fundamentals of Equipment Leasing Serious Game. In this training course, learners receive seven micro lessons that last about eight to ten minutes each, which they have the option to take or not based on their previous knowledge already learned on the given topics. The micro lessons are accompanied by a simulation-based game called 'Be the Boss', where the employee plays the role of a new hire at the fictional finance company, Strategic Equipment Leasing and Financing (S.E.L.F). Learners must complete on-the-job requirements in the replicated learning environment and effectively perform the needed tasks, such as making a sale or quoting prices accurately. By incorporating the Serious Game into training, ELFA is able to ensure its members can access information easily and obtain updates on new laws and regulations effectively.
Designing Digitally, Inc. was also given a Bronze award for their General Compliance Training eLearning course they designed for employees at CareSource. The training module takes participants through a multi-level office building that includes specific learning activities that must be conquered within each floor before advancing to the next section. This eLearning development includes virtual instructors and branching scenarios, which allows learners to make their own choices and see the consequences specific to their actions. With incorrect choices, the virtual trainers can offer guidance and help the learner recognize what needs to be done differently during their next try. The CareSource training experience includes fifteen scenarios in total that need to be successfully mastered to help ensure all compliance standards are being addressed effectively.
