The San Diego Padres placed outfielder Ramon Laureano on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday with right hip inflammation.
The move was retroactive to Sunday. In a corresponding move, the Padres selected the contract of outfielder Jase Bowen from Triple-A El Paso. Bowen, 25, was scheduled to make his major league debut on Tuesday night, starting in left field and batting seventh against the host Philadelphia Phillies.
Laureano, 31, last played on Saturday, when he went 0-for-3 with a walk in a 9-4 road loss to the Washington Nationals.
He is batting .203 with seven home runs and 21 RBIs in 53 games this season, his second with San Diego. He was hitting .357 after four games in March and .252 at the end of April.
For his career, Laureano is batting .250 with 113 homers and 349 RBIs in 795 regular-season games for the Athletics (2018-23), Cleveland Guardians (2023-24), Atlanta Braves (2024), Baltimore Orioles (2025) and Padres (2025-present).
The Pittsburgh Pirates selected Bowen in the 11th round of the 2019 MLB Draft. He signed a minor-league contract with the Padres prior to this season.
Bowen was batting .292 with a .362 on-base percentage and .600 slugging percentage with 13 home runs and 36 RBIs in 49 games with El Paso this season.
San Diego also transferred right-hander Nick Pivetta (right elbow inflammation) from the 15-day to the 60-day injured list to clear space for Bowen on the 40-man roster.
