NEW YORK CITY, New York: A Delta Air Lines plane's wing hit the runway at LaGuardia Airport during a rough landing over the weekend.
The flight was coming from Jacksonville, Florida, when the pilot tried to abort the landing due to an "unstable approach" around 10:10 p.m., according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
This maneuver called a go-around, is routine and involves pulling the plane back up to try landing again.
During the go-around, the plane's left wing struck the runway.
All 80 passengers and crew safely got off the plane, which stayed grounded at LaGuardia until March 17. No one was injured.
Delta said the crew followed proper procedures and landed the aircraft safely before taxiing to the gate. The airline apologized to passengers for the incident.
The flight was operated by Endeavor Air, the same regional carrier involved in a Toronto flight that caught fire and flipped while landing last month.
The FAA said it will launch an investigation.
